Sober for the first time in ten years he has to confront his demons and admit that giving up alcohol has left a gaping hole in an empty life. He has to cope with the tragic death of his former colleague Carol Barnes and he has to come to terms with what his drinking had done to his family. Ed is also shocked when he meets an old drinking buddy in a desperate state and we see how this inspires him to do all he can to raise awareness of homelessness.
