UKTV’s new Home channel to launch with the Twofour series - Gutted

Home, UKTV’s first lifestyle channel to be rebranded as part of its ongoing network activity, will launch on 30th April with a raft of original commissions, including the brand new series Gutted.
Commissioned by UKTV’s Director of Factual and Factual Entertainment Commissioning, Jane Rogerson, and ordered by Home’s Channel Head, Clare Laycock, and UKTV’s Director of Lifestyle, Factual and New Media, Jane Mote, the 10 x 60’ factual entertainment show will be produced by Twofour and fronted by presenter Mark Durden-Smith.
UKTV’s Jane Rogerson, says, “We really wanted something for launch that shook up the familiar format of property programmes. Gutted feels fresh and fun but still touches a truth and revelation about people's lives and relationships - with their nearest and dearest as well as the sometimes bizarre stuff in their lives.”
Home’s Clare Laycock, comments, “Home will be the UK's only dedicated home and gardens channel - a perfect next step for UKTV Style which has long led the way in lifestyle programming. I'm really proud to have Gutted as part of the channel's launch line-up.”
Twofour Broadcast’s Managing Director, Melanie Leach, adds, “Gutted is an emotionally charged entertainment format with a serious point at its heart. It poses the question; if we can't remember the things we own, do we really need them at all?”
In each episode of Gutted, an unsuspecting hoarder returns home to discover it totally empty of all their possessions, apart from Mark Durden-Smith – everything they own has been boxed up and loaded into a removal van parked outside. Getting these items back couldn’t be easier – all they have to do is remember what they had and answer a relevant question correctly. But get it wrong and that item is automatically put up for auction. Having seen many of their most treasured possessions auctioned off, our Guttees are offered one final dilemma by Mark – they can keep all the money raised, or get everything they own back. Your money or your life – which will leave you feeling less Gutted? The new series will be series produced by Charlotte Wheeler, with UKTV’s Catherine Catton and Twofour’s Melanie Leach and Neil Edwards as executive producers.
Gutted will premiere weekdays at 10pm from 4th May on Home (currently known as UKTV Style), a new look channel packed with inspirational home and gardens programming. Targeting a core demographic of 35-54 years, Home promises a welcome refuge with energetic, stylish and motivating programming that shows viewers how to enjoy and maximise their space, both inside and out. The channel will launch with the tag line “Home – there’s no place like it” and a complementary website, www.lovehome.co.uk, for home and gardens inspiration.
