Twofour scoops four Media Innovation Awards
MIA

Twofour has picked up a total of four awards, including the overall award at last night’s Gala Event which took place in Bristol. The Media Innovation Awards, which celebrates the innovative use of screen-based media across the South West rewards excellence across a range of disciplines and aims to raise the profile of the sector across the region and beyond.

The Overall 2009 Media Innovation Awards Trophy, as well as the Television Award was presented to Twofour Broadcast's Make My Body Younger – an eight-part series produced for BBC Three.  Presented by George Lamb, the series examines the over-the-top lifestyle of young party animals to see what damage they are doing to their bodies. Each programme reveals the real impact their wayward behaviour is having on their bodies by using state-of-the-art technology, and performing a "living autopsy", with shocking results. To reverse the damage done to their body, the contributor then spends several weeks with a dedicated doctor, helping them curb their addiction to excess and life on the edge.

Twofour Communications was awarded Best Community Website for the Growing Schools Garden - created for the Department of Children Schools and Families. Inspired by the recent Learning Outside the Classroom Manifesto, the Growing Schools Garden website aims to give teachers the opportunity to journey into the world beyond the classroom by creating a virtual interactive garden. The site contains short films, downloadable resources and case studies as well as toolkits and guidance to help teachers and aid learning.

Drake’s Island – Produced by Stoke Damerel Community College for Plymouth Children’s Services in association with Twofour Learning also picked up the award for Virtual World/Gaming. Drake's Island in Second Life is a literacy project, where a ten week lesson plan was created and delivered via the Virtual World. This safe, secure teen environment was a great motivator and inspired students to engage with creative writing.
