Twofour is looking for British pubs in need of a business boost.
Together with expert landlord, Jay Smith, a new series for Blighty offers members of the community the chance to muck in and save or reopen their favourite local boozer.
“This is a serious venture – not just a TV series, which will offer communities a real opportunity to restore their pub. We will challenge local people to revive the heart of their community,” Jay said.
The Blighty series will give communities without access to the necessary initial funding the chance to save their local, in an attempt to give it a new lease of life for a long-term future.
Jay will use all his knowledge and expertise to ensure everyone in the community who wants to take part, is trained in the necessary job roles. He will teach them the skills they need to give them a real chance of turning the pub into a success, offering five UK pubs an extremely low-cost, low-risk chance to avoid calling ‘time’.
Jay said: “These boozers are the backbone of British society. Lose them and we lose our identity. I want this series to really inspire people to get on board with my passion – to bring back the great British boozer. If we can get communities working together to get their pubs back, it will be good for our communities, good for tourism and good for the great British boozer.”
Twofour and together with Eye Film and TV are producing the five-part series for Blighty.
