(2009) 8 x 60' for Five
Following her first hit run in 2008 Alex Polizzi returns for Series 5 of The Hotel Inspector. Alex is an award-winning hotelier, the daughter of hotelier and interior designer Olga Polizzi, the granddaughter of Lord Forte and niece of Sir Rocco Forte, so she has all the industry experience and authority needed to turn flagging hotels into profitable ventures. Alex’s mission remains the same for this well-established format - casting fresh and expert eyes over a number of struggling hotels, in the hope of bringing them up to the impeccably high standards of excellence synonymous with the Forte name. Alex brings a practical intelligence and fiery Italian temperament to bear on every level of the hotel trade. From staffing to menus and from décor to hygiene, Alex will leave no stone unturned in her desire for improvement.

But since current owner Karen Lloyd took over the helm two and a half years ago – this historic coaching inn is failing, dismally. Having been dethroned of a star rating, going from three to two and with atrocious Trip Advisor reviews – Karen is desperate. Cue the Hotel Inspector – and it doesn’t take long for Alex to find faults.

6 July 2009 on Five
“Too many people go into the hotel business thinking it’s going to be an easy option but it is the toughest job to get right, and make money. For me, great service should start with the first smile you get when you check in – and that costs nothing.”
Alex Polizzi – The Hotel Inspector
“…champagne corks were no doubt popping as the channel’s Monday night gem, The Hotel Inspector, continued to nearly double the 9pm slot’s normal audience levels.”
